Agafay Desert

About the Agafay Desert

The Agafay Desert is a stony, rocky desert roughly 30–45 minutes by road from Marrakech, Morocco. Unlike the Sahara — a multi-day trip away — Agafay's dry plateaus and rolling hills make it possible to fit an Agafay Desert day trip into a single afternoon or evening.

It's become a popular spot for quad biking, camel rides and horse rides, plus Agafay Desert pool and lunch and evening dinners with live music, thanks to its dramatic views back toward the Atlas Mountains and easy access from the city.

Agafay Desert puts together Agafay Desert tours from Marrakech as clear, straightforward packages and individual activities, with real prices and inclusions listed on every page, so you know what you're booking before you enquire.

Getting there

Every dinner and lunch package includes round-trip pickup and drop-off in Marrakech, so you don't need to arrange your own transport. Individual activities are usually booked without transport, except the Sunset Dinner Show, which includes pickup. Exact pickup times and points are confirmed when you enquire.

Before you go

Comfortable, closed shoes are recommended if your plans include quad biking. Bring swimwear and a towel if your package or activity includes the pool. The desert is exposed, so sun protection and water are worth packing regardless of season. Like most deserts, Agafay cools down quickly once the sun sets, so a light jacket or layer is worth having for an evening dinner or fire show, even after a warm day.
